PIIE - Peterson Institute for International Economics

The Peterson Institute of International Economics or PIIE is a private, nonprofit organization that is devoted to the study of the policies of international economics. It was established in 1981 and since then it has been providing people with up to date and objective analysis of international economic problems- providing possible solutions as well. It has been voted the "best think tank in the world" in 2008 by the first global survey by the magazine Prospect.

AFA - American Finance Journal

The American Finance Journal is an academic organization whose main purpose is to study and promote the knowledge of financial economics. The organization was established in Philadelphia in 1939 and by today has over 8000 members.

SABI

SABI is exactly the same database as OSIRIS, however it only has information about Spanish and Portuguese companies. There are more than 1 million companies to search from and the data goes back to the year 1991. THis database is updated daily, which makes it a very useful tool for researching financial or economical information about a variety of organizations.

OSIRIS

OSIRIS is a database that contains the financial data of international companies. This program allows you to search companies using different criteria like financial info and credit, marketing and trade information and it is also good for research as it a quite powerful research tool for students and faculty members alike.

Bloomberg L.P.

Bloomberg L.P is a mass media corporation that was established in Delaware (headquarters are currently in Manhattan) in 1981 by Michael R. Bloomberg. The company by itself makes up one thirds of the global financial data market. It is a platform that provides many financial software tools. Among them are an analytics and equity trading platform, data services and news about financial organization from all around the world. All of this is done through the Bloomberg Terminal and the "machine" has 30 146 functions. 

Bloomberg collects data for 3.7 million securities across all markets worldwide. The markets covered include government and corporate bonds, mortgage, money-market, indices, currency, commodities and equities.

NBER - National Bureau of Economic Research

The National Bureau of Economic Research is a nonprofit organization created in The USA in 1920 which is "Committed to undertaking and disseminating unbiased economic research among public policymakers, business professionals, and the academic community."* It is believed to be the biggest economic research organization in USA.

INE - The National Institute of statistics

This is the official institution where the information about statistics, demography, economy and Spanish society overall is gathered. INE was created in 1856 and its headquarters is situated in Madrid.
In the official website it is possible to keep an eye on the updates made in the different fields of study. The INE conducts a national census every 10 years and the last one took place in 2011.

SAFARI books online

This is an online digital library that has its headquarters in Sebastopol, CA and was established in 2001.  It is a subscription based library, that contains videos, books, manuscripts etc. It has two different subscription plans: one of them is called Safari Bookshelf and the other Safari Library, which are available for individuals, libraries, companies, governments and more.

BNE Catalogue

This is a catalogue of the biggest library in Spain, which is located in Madrid and was established in 1712. The catalogue includes information about all the resources that can be found in the library itself: books, manuscripts, press, audiovisuals etc.

SAGE is an online journal database, powered by HighWire, that is ranked the #5 largest journal publishers in the world. It has access to more than 700 journals from various fields and is created for librarians, individual users, authors and societies.

Google Scholar

This is a free database that gives access to all scholarly literature available. This includes journals, theses, books etc. Google Scholar was created in 2004 and is said to be the biggest scholarly database in Europe and The Americas. It has a very catchy slogan: "Stand on the shoulders of giants," which is a tribute to all the academically able people who have contributed to their fields of interest over the centuries, giving new generations opportunities to be better.

RefWorks

RefWorks is an online references management program that was created in 2001 and currently owned by ProQuest, LLC.
It is useful for creating databases of resources and saving them to be entered later from any computer with a working internet connection. Resources can be found by accessing, through the program, thousands of libraries in the world and it is also possible to import from other sources like Google Scholar and ABI/Inform, for example.
RefWorks is mainly used by university students and staff, however, individual licenses are also given.

UC3M Catalogue

The UC3M Catalogue is perhaps the most useful tool in the toolbox of a student from our University. First of all, you can ask for reservations and renew the loans of your books on this page.
